During her residency, Lissy Willberg will be developing an artistic-choreographic project. The foundation of the choreography will be a research about prehistoric Arabic navigation systems (hand and body gestures), which revolutionised the nautical orientation.

Lissy Willberg has set up a studio for her research residency in a room of the Kunsthalle Görlitz. Here *LW deals with nautical navigation technologies of early Arabic shipping and a multimedia spatial installation of textile, sound and performance is created.

Workshop „Exploring sonic interbeing“

The workshop explores the political dimension of listening spaces. The first part of the format consists of a series of guided exercises that explore the body for its potential as a sound body. After the lunch break, Lissy Willberg will give a theoretical input on the concept of acousmatics (Brandon LaBelle) and will further work with listening examples of the activist sound collective "Ultra-Red". The workshop will focus on exploring the "other side of annunciation" and thus the conceptualization of listening as an emancipatory practice. Come in comfortable and warm clothing, expect a semi-darkened room, textiles + sound(s) + voice(s).

Lissy Willberg (*1989, Berlin, DE) researches room and group dynamics through installations and performances that are based on participatory offers. After her degree at the HGB Leipzig (DE), L* completed a postgraduate study at the Dutch Art Institute (NL). L* initialises social situations that make theoretical and scientific knowledge production tangible. This site-specific constellations blur the borders between being, performing and participating. In 2020, L* received a scholarship from the International Summer Academy for Fine Art (AT) and between 2017-2022, she was supported with a scholarship by the Scholarship Fund. Since 2021, Lissy Wilber holds a lectureship at the HGB Leipzig and accompanies the class for Performative Arts by Prof. Isabel Lewis.
