Dear friends and supporters of villa\wigman,
dear neighborhood,
July brought significant progress for our organisation: after months of renovation work, we were able to successfully complete two important milestones. The Great Hall shines with its completely renovated floor and is once again available to artists and companies for their artistic work. At the same time, the cross corridor underwent extensive renovation and now has a fresh new look. Just in time for Open Monument Day on 14 September, villa\wigman is reopening its doors and cordially invites you to come and see the successful renovation results for yourself.
We would also like to draw your attention to a special highlight in autumn: PARCOURS³ #2 by Charles A. Washington follows on from the events of the PARCOURS series in spring and once again promises an intensive exploration of our historic location. On two dates in autumn – 19 October and 23 November 2025 – you can look forward to an artistic journey through time and myth, in which Mary Wigman and villa\wigman become a living space for reflection.
We look forward to seeing you again at villa\wigman.
See you soon!

MACHT/THEATER/STAAT [POWER–THEATRE–STATE] is an artistic research project within the framework of the second flausen+ residency at villa\wigman, exploring the relationship between autonomy, sovereignty, art and the fragility of the subject through the medium of theatre. Over a period of three months, artists Juliet Meding and Michael McCrae collaborated on research into the topic, tested artistic strategies and translation possibilities, and developed texts and songs for the stage. At the showing on 28 August at 6 p.m., they will present the results of their research at villa\wigman. We cordially invite all interested parties to attend!
Admission is free.

villa\wigman will once again open its doors on Open Monument Day on 14 September 2025, offering a variety of insights and views into the listed building complex. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., we invite you to join us for guided tours, exhibitions, coffee, cake and conversation.
Mary Wigman created a place unique in dance history with the Villa Wigman. Since 2019, the Villa Wigman für Tanz e.V. association has been gradually renovating this place in line with conservation guidelines, uncovering a century of history and bringing it to life for today's visitors.

After seven months of renovation work, the complete reconstruction of the floor in the Great Hall has been completed. In recent weeks, new radiators have also been installed, the doors have been replaced in accordance with historical models and fire safety regulations, and a sprung dance floor and parquet flooring have been laid. The extensive floor renovation has resulted in a huge improvement in working conditions for professional performing artists at villa\wigman. The 205 square metre hall, with its extraordinary spatial impression, is now available again for artistic work in a new quality.

In recent weeks, the doors to the Great Hall in the cross corridor have been replaced. They blend in with the monochrome colour scheme of the green tones used in the corridors during Mary Wigman's time. They also meet fire safety requirements. Furthermore, upright lamella parquet flooring was laid in the corridors and the original skylight frame was refurbished and installed. With the painting of the cross corridor, the corridors leading to the halls now have a new look.
