Dear friends and supporters of villa\wigman,
dear neighborhood,

spring has several wonderful events in store for us: Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026 will bring professionals from the national and international dance scene to Dresden from March 11 to 15 – and we are delighted to be part of this important industry gathering with two specialist events and guided tours of our premises. We also introduce the six residents who will soon begin their work as part of residence plus 2025/26. And we offer a glimpse behind the scenes of our ongoing renovation, in which Mary Wigman's monochrome interior design with unique gold and silver pigments is gradually being revealed again.

residence plus 2025/26 –
the residents have been selected!

From 48 applications, the jury—Jule Rottluff (dancer), Angelika Waniek (performer), and Heike Zadow (independent producer)—selected six artists who will receive time and space for artistic research as part of residence plus: John Moran, Rika Yotsumoto, Germán Farías, Leoni Eibes, Vasiliki Bara, and Yamile Navarro will be working in Saxony over the coming months – from Görlitz to Kirschau to Dresden. The diversity of the projects once again demonstrates how important targeted funding instruments are for the independent dance scene. Villa Wigman für Tanz e.V. and TanzNetzDresden e.V. are looking forward to an exciting year of residencies. Gold and silver at villa\wigman

At the press conference on February 12, together with architect Annett Ammon (RKA Architekten) and master painter and restorer Tilo Hasch (Farbenwerkstatt Meißen), we provided insights into a special moment in the ongoing renovation: the restoration of Mary Wigman's original color scheme in the residence rooms on the first floor of the villa, based on findings from the construction period. Restoration investigations had revealed monochrome rooms in rare shades of gold and silver—an almost unique testimony to expressionist architecture in Saxony. Specially coordinated color systems made from natural pigments by the Swiss manufacturer kt.COLOR were selected for the historically accurate reconstruction. As Tilo Hasch describes it: Color here is not a coat of paint, but space – it changes with light and movement.

This week, villa\wigman is hosting two professional events as part of Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026: On March 13, the International Producers Meet-Up will take place, followed by the Pitching Session Saxony on March 15—a showing format that puts the spotlight on dance professionals from Saxony. Both events are aimed at the professional audience of Tanzplattform. As part of the Tanzplattform, we are also offering guided tours of villa\wigman in German and English – an opportunity to get to know the building and its history up close.
