After studying dance at the Palucca Schule Dresden, Katja Erfurth was engaged in the ballet ensemble of the Saxon State Opera Dresden. Since 1997, she has been working as a freelance dancer and choreographer. As chairman of the board of the association "Villa Wigman für TANZ" she is committed to the use of the former Wigman School as a production venue for the independent performing arts. Together with Julia Amme, Johanna Roggan and Thomas Dumke, she is on the management team of villa\wigman. In 2020, she received the Art Award of the State Capital Dresden.
