Place: TanzArt Studio in Kirschau
I would like to use the residency to look at themes of ageing in dance. To this end, I will address the topic of slow disappearance and expand my choreographic practice to include the question of the invisible vs. the visible body. Ageism is a huge, often overlooked factor in our society.
Older people become virtually invisible because they no longer contribute to the productivity of society within the capitalist logic. In "disappearing, slowly" I would like to engage in an intensive dialog with bodies of other ages, starting with my grandmother: Rosemarie Windisch, née Tschee.
Who do I see when I look at them?
What remains of a life in paid work, as a mother of two, as a pensioner?
What remains of my youth as a sportswoman, an enthusiastic dancer and traveler?
How do you say goodbye to the things and people of the earthly world?
My grandma was diagnosed with dementia at the beginning of 2023.
Now things are slipping out of her hands, information and data are slipping through her fingers and she often feels lonely. Which part of her is disappearing? Which part remains?
Workshops "transitions" - 5.9. & 11.9.2024
As part of her research on the topic of age/s and transitions in dance, this dance workshop deals with transformation and change in movement. It begins with exercises to connect breathing and movement and then dives into various improvisation exercises. Your own biography can play a role, but doesn't have to. What is important to Anna Till is experimenting with (gradual/ abrupt/ imperceptible/ desired...) changes and transformations and sharing personal experiences and perspectives.
Anna Till works as a freelance choreographer and dancer based in Dresden. Her artistic work is characterized by an interest in the interweaving of past and present and a desire for interdisciplinary experimentation. The body as a carrier of symbols, as a mirror of society and as a means of expression in movement is the focus of every piece she creates. Important collaborative works include "parallel situation" (2017) and "Experiencing Time" (2021) with Barbara Lubich and "life in numbers" (2019) with Katiá Manjate. Anna runs a company "situation productions", is part of the collective TILL&LUBICH and a board member of TanzNetzDresden.
Her piece "Schwanensee in Sneakers" (by Nora Otte, Anna Till, Konstanze Grotkopp, Johannes Till) has just been selected for the 2024 Dance Platform.
TanzART - Atelier for Dance, Movement & Art is a center for contemporary dance with participatory projects in beautiful Schirgiswalde-Kirschau. There is room for art here in the countryside - lots of room! In the former textile factory, which now forms the heart of the art initiative "Im Friese", there is room for every creative idea. The studio (70 square meters), a residence room, shared kitchen and bathroom are a good basis for creativity. Performances and exchanges with visual artists and regional dance makers take place in the gallery. Residents who want to work with local people and artists are particularly welcome here. TanzART combines rural idyll with supra-regional and international networks and has welcomed guests from Indonesia, the USA, India and the Netherlands in recent years.
