Cindy Hammer

In her TANZPAKT residency at LOFFT - DAS THEATER, Cindy will explore the state of melancholy, building on her past research in the field of emotional practice and emotional culture. The research project involves an intensive exploration of the subject and its location and constitution in bodies and movement.

Cindy has been working as a freelance choreographer, dancer and performer in (inter)national projects for over ten years. Her artistic practice is characterized by this relationship; choreographing and producing her own works within the framework of her company goplastic, as well as working as a dancer and performer in productions by companies, choreographers and directors such as PaulaRosolen/HapticHide, Johanna Roggan, Romy Schwarzer/thegutscompany, Anna Till, Joseph Hernandez, CharlesWashington/pinkmetalpetal, Barbara Lubich, VeraIlona Stierli, Avatara Ayuso, Rosie Herrera and many more. In her movement practice she is in constant search of influences and researches intensively in and after urban styles and their histories, features and characteristics. These insights flow back into her work as a choreographer and performer.

Since its founding in 1997, LOFFT - DAS THEATER has stood for the promotion of the performing arts in Leipzig and Saxony, as well as that of young talent in the local area and for national and international productions in the fields of dance, performance and theater arts. It is one of the important venues for the independent performing arts in Saxony and has been located on the grounds of the Spinnerei Leipzig in Hall 7 since 2019.

The promotion and development of artists and their work are just as important to the LOFFT as the accompanying and mediating presentation of important artistic positions. The profile develops organically in national and international contexts and continues to strengthen the relationship to Leipzig and Saxon cultural life and its actors.
