UNIVERSE

With a contemporary view of the legacy of the early Baroque composer Heinrich Schütz, a dance performance was created on the occasion of the 350th anniversary of his death as a fusion of movement, classical instrumental music, song and electronic music. It raises the question of humanity against the background of current wars and explores the concept of community in a dynamic, emotional and highly topical way.

Heinrich Schütz - died Nov. 6, 1672 - spent most of his life in Dresden as Saxon court kapellmeister, but also worked in various European cities. He created his rich sacred works at a time of great crisis and human challenge: The Thirty Years' War was raging in Europe and the plague was rampant in Dresden on several occasions.

The interdisciplinary project with Dresden dancers, singers and the music ensemble TOPOGRAPH, choreographed by Andreas heise, takes a scenic look at Schütz's compositional cosmos and confronts the theme of faith in times of inner and outer upheaval. TOPOGRAPH complements the music of the early baroque with contemporary electronic music. New spheres of sound are created, which transition scenically and allow what has been heard to resonate, to anticipate emotionally or to provide space for reflection.

tristan Production, founded in 1997 by music dramaturge and cultural producer Isolde Matkey, has been active as a freelance production office in the field of the liberal arts for more than twenty years, combining artistic production, concept and project development with aspects of an artist agency.
