Dear friends and supporters of villa\wigman,
dear neighborhood,
the summer break is approaching, but before that we invite you to a second round of PARCOURS³ #1 at villa\wigman on June 15, 2025: a performative tour with artistic and installation elements, looking at the history, present and future of villa\wigman. In PARCOURS³ #1, visual artist Svea Duwe guides visitors through villa\wigman along the visible traces of the years 1920-1942, when Mary Wigman founded and ran her dance school here. Visitors will experience three site-specific performances realized in collaboration with the artists Caroline Beach (dance), Sarah Bonitz (acting) and flieder aka Rosa Klee (music). There will be two tours on June 15 - at 12 noon and 3 pm. You are welcome to secure your tickets now via our advance booking system.
On many other days in spring and early summer, the corridors and rooms of the villa\wigman are filled with construction noise and the hustle and bustle of workmen and volunteers. The renovation of the floor in the Great Hall and the refurbishment of new residence and work rooms on the second floor keep us busy and challenging. We are delighted to have RKA Architekten at our side, a new architectural firm that is actively advising and supporting us in the renovation of the historic building ensemble.
We are looking forward to showing you the results of the latest renovation steps at the villa\wigman events this fall. See you soon!

Following the sudden death of our architect Holm Pinkert in an accident last year, we are delighted to have secured the services of architects Annett Ammon and Patricia Reuß-Thümmler from RKA Architekten to continue the renovation work on and in the villa\wigman. Annett Ammon has already worked as a fire safety expert for villa\wigman in recent years and is familiar with the historical dance character of the location and its listed building ensemble both in terms of content and expertise thanks to Holm Pinkert. We are grateful that this new cooperation is making sense from all sides and that we will be shaping the current and future renovation steps together.
RKA Architekten is a team of 15 architects and in-house specialists with different areas of expertise, focusing on the preservation of listed buildings and building in existing structures.

The renovation work on the floor in the Great Hall is in full swing. The careful demolition of the oak parquet flooring in the Great Hall began in January 2025. The demolition work was largely carried out by members of the association and supporters of villa\wigman. The reconstruction of the floor then began with the application of the seal, the installation of the heating pipes and the laying of the insulation and underfloor heating. The complete refurbishment, including the replacement of the doors according to the original design, will continue until July 2025.
We are always happy to receive support for the visible and invisible renovation work. Anyone wishing to support the renovation of the Great Hall can make a donation either by bank transfer to the account:

or directly via PayPal. We are happy to issue donation receipts.

In August 2024, renovation work began on the future residence area on the second floor of the villa\wigman with work to secure evidence of Mary Wigman's work during the construction period. The next step was to remove all wallpaper and old paintwork and to carry out an extensive restoration of the color findings with rare silver and gold tones in monochrome interior design, which impressively testify to Mary Wigman's creative will. The aim of the restoration work is to bring this back to life.
In March 2025, the windows in this area were replaced in line with the original design. On the one hand, the structure of the window design of the 19th-century villa was followed and, on the other, the window formats changed by Mary Wigman. These windows therefore already form a reference for the future comprehensive renovation of the windows of the entire villa building next year.
