Dear friends and supporters of villa\wigman,
dear neighborhood,

The year is drawing to a close and we are using the Advent season to look back on the second half of the year in the spirit of arrival and pause. The renovation of the Small and Red Halls marks another major step in the modernization and restoration of the villa\wigman's interior. At the same time, the sudden death of our architect and friend Holm Pinkert in July of this year hit us hard, leaving a big gap for us and for the historic ensemble of buildings at villa\wigman.

Nevertheless, there were still many bright hours in the villa\wigman in the fall with the fourth edition of our cross-genre format SOLO² on November 3, 2024, in which twelve artists presented short pieces of dance, drama, puppetry, singing, performance and visual arts throughout the house and numerous visitors were able to discover various rooms of the villa\wigman as venues. As part of the TANZPAKT in residence program, we hosted Magdalena Weniger's residency “Moosweib Reloaded” in August. A highlight was the “TANZPAKT in residence.re-preview” event on November 14, at which we welcomed 18 resident artists and representatives of the eight residency locations and were able to network with nationwide cooperation partners, sponsors and representatives from cultural policy and administration.

We are now looking forward to a short break between the years so that we can then start the new year in high spirits - and hopefully with a stable budget for the cultural scene in Dresden in 2025/26 - which will also be the year for “Tanzstadt Dresden 2025” with many anniversaries. We will inform you at the beginning of next year about all the plans and events that we are developing in the villa\wigman in this context.

The city of Dresden is planning cuts in the cultural sector amounting to 4 million euros. Further cuts will not only affect culture, but also the areas of youth, education and social affairs. These cuts threaten the diversity and quality of life in our city. That is why we are calling on you and you to submit a petition by tomorrow!!!
